Art, music, and history take over Mexico City!

April, 2023

As Mexico’s capital city and its cultural center, Mexico City is never short of amazing and wide-ranging offers for people in search of great art, great music, great food, or unique experiences. Here we will showcase just three events happening this spring that prove that there’s nowhere quite like Mexico City!

The Museum of Popular Art in Cuauhtémoc adorns its building with colorful kites created by artisans from all over the country — showcasing the contestants and winners of the museum’s recent kite competition, this exhibition offers you the chance to enter a world of color, tradition, and magic, as you admire the work of winners Marco Antonio Sánchez García, Yael Rafael Solano Silva, and Ricardo López García, among dozens of other artisans from around the country. You have never seen kites like these! The exhibition runs from February 25th through to April 23rd.

In the famous Forest of Chapultepec, one of the year’s most anticipated events takes place between the 6th and 9th of April — the Forest Festival sees the park host a wide variety of activities, workshops, exhibitions, plays, and concerts. Some of the brightest musical stars of Mexico and Latin America have played here, making the festival one of the spring’s biggest draws. In addition, activities such as the Night of the Stars or the famous Night Picnic make this a unique outing for families, who will also be able to enjoy film screenings, workshops, and guided museum visits. A detailed calendar of activities will be announced soon, but you can rest assured this festival is not to be missed!

Last but not least, in the Casa de Carranza Museum in Cuauhtémoc, the “Journey Through Books” exhibition transports you to key moments in the history of the world with the help of toys. Intricate dioramas created with Playmobil portray famous events throughout the ages, making this a fun and educational experience that will thrill children and adults alike — these miniature worlds are full of wonder, incredible detail, and interesting information. The exhibition is temporary, running until the 28th of April, and admission is free.
