Despite the fact that during the week of November 9 to 15, Cancun remained the number three destination nationwide in hotel occupancy, its airport is the one with the highest volume of international passengers, even more so than Mexico City.

According to a report by the statistical site Datatur, in the above-referenced week, Los Cabos obtained the highest level of hotel occupancy with 55.3%; this is 1.3 percentage points more than the previous week; Puerto Vallarta obtained 45.5% hotel occupancy, while Cancun obtained 43.9%, according to information from the federal Ministry of Tourism (Sectur).

After the hard work that the state of Quintana Roo has put in to control the pandemic, the epidemiological traffic light could yet turn green and allow 100 percent occupations in hotels.

Hugo López Gattel, highlighted the reduction of infections in the last 15 days in the entity as well as the work carried out by Governor Carlos Joaquín González.

Due to this, the leader of the hoteliers of Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Puerto Morelos, Roberto Cintrón, highlighted there is confidence that before the end of the year occupancy will rebound to 60%, since bookings already anticipate that most hotels will be able to reach the limit allowed by the state.
