Cancun, Playa Mujeres, Puerto Morelos and Riviera Maya will host 13 new hotel openings during 2020 that will add about 5,400 rooms to the Mexican Caribbean touristic offer with establishments of all sizes and categories.
Some of the openings that have received a lot of attention from the press are the following:
• Opening of the Senator in Puerto Morelos, with 1,044 rooms, which is estimated to be ready by June as a luxury resort.
•Opening of the Planet Hollywood All Inclusive with 1,200 rooms in Playa Mujeres.
•Opening of the 156-room Saint Regis Kanai and W Kanai Retreat in Punta Bete Xcalacoco.
•Nickelodean Resort with 276 rooms in Punta Brava.
•And the 63-room Beach House in Xcaret.
The Senator Puerto Morelos and Planet Hollywood are the two properties that are expected to be ready in the coming months between the May – June of this year.
The Senator Puerto Morelos, is being developed in an area of 8.60 ha and 440 Ml of beach front and its 1,044 rooms have been strategically distributed so that all have wonderful views of the sea. The resort has all kinds of entertainment and exclusive areas such as its 10 restaurants, a wine tasting lounge, 5 additional bars, a spa, a convention and wedding center, as well as an incredible water park consisting of a wide lazy river, slides, swimming pool wave and surf pool.
On the other hand, Planet Hollywood Playa Mujeres All Inclusive, will have 1,027 rooms and 16 restaurants including a Guy Fieri’s Burguer Joint. It will also have nine bars, four pools, a lazy river, a trampoline park, kids and teens' clubs, plus a mini-golf course. According to different reports, this resort will be the second and largest all-inclusive resort to open under the Planet Hollywood brand in the Mexican Caribbean.
