Sun Country Airlines just announced a new route between Portland, Oregon and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Cabo San Lucas is a Mexican resort destination, which is located at the tip of Baja California. It is a warm and sunny destination, so the seasonal route should be popular among those living in and around Portland.

The seasonal route will commence on December 18. Sun Country Airlines will offer a daily round-trip flight on Wednesdays and Saturdays, through April 11.

While Sun Country generally focuses on flying out of its main hub at Minneapolis/St. Paul, the carrier is expanding and offering flights from new airports. Just last summer, Sun Country added multiple routes from Nashville, Las Vegas and Portland. With this newly announced route, the airline now will serve a total of nine destinations from Portland. Six of the routes are seasonal, while three of the routes operate year-round.

The flight from Portland to Cabo San Lucas is scheduled at 3 hours and 55 minutes. It will leave Portland at 7:30am and arrive in Cabo San Lucas at 12:25pm. Return flights are scheduled to take 4 hours and 10 minutes. They will leave Cabo San Lucas at 1:25pm and arrive in Portland at 4:35pm.

Flights are already on sale and can be booked directly on Sun Country's website. The new route should be great news for anyone who wants to visit a warm destination in the winter.
